This summer, I decided to travel to somewhere I haven’t been before and I choose Nashville, TN. Boy o boy am I glad I did. I went the last weekend of July and had a great time. This city is full of great things and I’d like to share 3 highlights from my trip. Enjoy!
This place is amazing! I ended up spending more time there than I thought. It was raining pretty hard that day and ended up being a great place to stay while it let up.
During my visit, I watched a short film on the history of the auditorium, went on my own independent tour, took a picture on the stage and even recorded the Patsy Cline song “Walking After Midnight”. Singing the song was definitely the hightling of my experience as I am not a singer and never recorded anything with an engineer in a booth before. But I was in Nashville aka Music City so I figured “Why not?” and I still smile when I think about the experience.
2. The Patsy Cline Museum
I actually wouldn’t consider myself a big country music fan but I love Patsy Cline. This is the thing about amazing artists like her. They transcend genres or boxes that folks are often placed in. Her talent, style and grace said it all! She was an amazing singer and I am glad that the decision was made to create a place where her memory lives on. Whoever had a part of putting this museum together did a wonderful job.
3. Slim and Husky's Pizza
During this trip, I decided to get my hair done at a local beauty salon. During my service, I asked the locals to give me some good places to eat besides chicken-haha! This is when a new pizza place called Slim and Husky's Pizza was mentioned. It sounded interesting as it was owned by 3 local guys who grew up together. I ate there and it was delicious. There was a line coming out of the door to order-that’s a great sign…..
There are many places to go in Nashville, so I plan on returning to see more of what this great city has to offer. Where did you travel to this summer? Do you know a lot about Nashville? Where are your favorite places? Please feel free to share.
